Lachezar - piano
Lachezar was born in Varna (Bulgaria) and he started learning the piano at the age of nine. He showed a very rapid progress and one year later he was accepted at the Dobri Hristov College of Music and Arts, where he completed his high school education with a specialist music curriculum.
Lachezar is a winner of many national and international prizes and awards. He won the Second Prize in the National Competition DimitarNenov in Bulgaria (1999), Third Prize in the International Competition Pro Arte in Bucharest, Romania (2000), the Grand Prix of the Competition for Czech and Slovak Music in Prague (2003) and also the Presto National Scholarship Award (2002). In 2009, Lachezar was a finalist of the Concerto competition in the Royal College of Music.
He made his concert debut in Holland at the age of twelve, where he played in Utrecht and at the RAI Centre in Amsterdam. Since then, he has played in many venues in Bulgaria, Europe and the UK, including the Varna Festival Hall and the Bulgarian Embassy Hall in Prague and London. He has also participated in the Varna Summer International Music Festival.
At sixteen years of age, he was selected to participate in a series of concerts with the Varna Philharmonic Orchestra, where he performed the Grieg piano concerto No.1, under the critics acclaim. Subsequently, the following year, he received an invitation to perform Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the Varna and Shumen Philharmonic Orchestras.
In 2005 Lachezar was awarded the ABRSM Full Scholarship for overseas students to study at the Royal College of Music with Professor Andrew Ball. For the duration of his studies, he was supported by Flame Trust.
To this date, Lachezar has played numerous solo and chamber music recitals in the UK and abroad. In 2008 he performed Rachmaninov’s ‘Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini’, with the North London Symphony Orchestra. He was also a soloist at the prestigious London Cadogan Hall and at Kings Place with the renowned Chilingirian Quartet in 2012. In May 2013 he performed at the Wigmore Hall lunchtime series concerts and at St. John’s Smith Square. In October in the same year he performed Grieg Piano Concerto number 1 with Sliven Philharmonic orchestra in Bulgaria. Engagements in 2015/2016 include performances with Barth Festival Orchestra (Germany), Pazardjik Symphony Orchestra (Bulgaria), Symphony Orchestra of Rio Grande do Norte, (Brazil),and Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra, Tucson (USA).
In December 2013 Lachezar obtained with Distinction his Masters of Music Diploma in Piano Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music. In addition to his performing career Lachezar is also holding teaching positions at JASSPA, Cumnor House, University College School, and Whitgift School.
